Editorial and corrections policy

People use these pages to decide whether to pay a ticket, and before which day. A wrong date can cost them the half-price window or an appeal, so every amount and every time limit points back to the text it was read on.

Who is responsible

Radif Partners, reachable at contact@pcndates.co.uk.

What we read

  • legislation.gov.uk: the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the 2022 regulations for England, the Welsh order of 2008, the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, the Parking (Code of Practice) Act 2019, the Taking Control of Goods (Fees) Regulations 2014;
  • GOV.UK: the parking tickets guide, the Private Parking Code of Practice and its explanatory memorandum, the DfT guidance on bus lane and moving traffic enforcement, the NHS car parking principles and the bank holidays;
  • nidirect, Transport Scotland, the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland, Transport for London and London borough pages for their own areas;
  • the Civil Procedure Rules and the Pre-Action Protocol for Debt Claims on justice.gov.uk; POPLA and the IAS for their own procedures.

Sources we refuse

Claims companies, law firms, parking operators and forums never supply a figure here. A rule we cannot find in an official text is not published as a rule; where official sources disagree or are silent, the page says so.

Review cycle

The parameter file is re-read against the official texts at least every month, and immediately when a change is announced: a new Code date, new penalty levels, a new statutory instrument. Announced changes are shown as coming, with their date, never as current.

Corrections

  1. We open the official text again.
  2. We correct the parameter file and add an automated test for the case.
  3. The site rebuilds and every page shows the new date.
